Cody Bayles, PhD (he/him)
Licensed Psychologist, LPC

Cody was born and raised in FLG, AZ. He earned his MA in Community Counseling and PhD in Counseling Psychology from THE Northern Arizona University. While attending school, he worked in community mental health for 9 years at The Guidance Center in a variety of roles that addressed general mental health and substance use disorders. In 2018, he joined Flagstaff Counseling Center as a partner prior to starting Beyond the Pines alongside Dan Phillips in 2021.

When it comes to therapy, Cody believes the quality of the therapeutic relationship paves the way for change by helping people develop self-awareness and understand the reciprocal relationship between one’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and how those three items are influenced by the environment and personal life experiences. In developing awareness, he helps his clients come to an understanding of the functional nature of their thoughts and emotions, with the aim of clarifying their personal values and committing to mindfully act on them despite what internal or external barriers they might face. Cody incorporates the attitudes of mindfulness into his work as he seeks to help people build a healthy connection to their selves, others, and the natural world.

Cody is also an approved clinical supervisor through the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners. His research interests include ecotherapy, organizational psychology, and mindfulness based approaches to therapy and their outcomes.
