Grace Chenal, MSW
Licensed Master Social Worker

Grace was born and raised in Carefree, Arizona where she developed an appreciation for all things rock (like geology not the music). In 2008 she made the trek up to Flagstaff and graduated from Northern Arizona University in 2012 with a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science and Minors in criminal justice and Spanish.

Following, she was offered a position working with single teenage mothers placed in Child Protection Services. This position is where she ultimately found her passion and led her to pursue a Master’s degree in Social Work. While earning her Master’s degree, she interned with GLSEN (an LGBTQIA organization) that promotes inclusivity in K-12 schools and works to promote policy changes at the macro level. Following her time with GLSEN she interned with the Arizona Justice Project and worked in collaboration with ASU's School of Law to help prepare inmates to reenter society after serving 25+ years in prison.

After completing her MA, she accepted a position in Phoenix with Jewish Family Children Services as an Adolescent/ Family Counselor. In October of 2020, she made the decision to move back to her favorite city - Flagstaff, where she accepted a position with Child and Family Support Services. Grace joined Beyond the Pines in November of 2021.

In her approach to therapy, she aims to meet her clients, ages 8+ where they are at. To do so, she uses a trauma informed lens and works alongside her clients to determine which modality will best meet their needs. She offers a range of interventions including dialectical behavioral therapy, EMDR therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and mindfulness.

When Grace isn’t doing therapy, she can be found spending time in the great outdoors. She loves to garden, hike, read, and travel. She has two dogs Frida (a stray from Mexico) and Dobby (her trusty side kick from Smyrna TN).
