Julia Hanlon, MA (she/her)
Licensed Associate Counselor, 500 E-RYT

Originally from Cambridge, Massachusetts, Julia meandered her way around the planet prior to finding herself in FLG as a resident in 2022. Before making her way to the Southwest, she earned a double major in Ethnomusicology and Religious Studies from Bates College. She went on to earn a Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Heath Counseling from Naropa University. Before doing so, she taught Yoga, hosted the Running on Om podcast, and co-produced a documentary titled, “Bekoji 100,” which documents the first 100-mile ultra race across Ethiopia.

In her work as a therapist, Julia feels passionate about creating a safe place for people of all backgrounds and identities. She believes deeply in people’s innate healing capacity and chooses to apply creativity, curiosity, and compassion to the therapeutic process. She does so while using Mindfulness-Based Therapies, Internal Family Systems, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. She earned her Gottman Level 1 certification and uses this approach in her therapy work with couples. Julia also likes to treat adults presenting with with pre- and post-natal issues, people navigating eating disorders and/or body image concerns, athletes, addiction, LGBTQ+, and trauma.

When Julia’s not teaching Yoga or doing therapy, she can be found running FLG trails with her dog, baking muffins, or making unnecessary to-do lists… all while drinking ginger kombucha.
