Katie Hinkle, MA (she/her)

Licensed Associate Counselor

A Flagstaff native, Katie is proud to still call this town home as an adult. She earned her B.S. in Sociology, with a minor in Philosophy, from THE Northern Arizona University in 2012, and returned to NAU over a decade later to complete her M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2024. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Combined Counseling and School Psychology at NAU, along with a graduate certificate in Positive Behavior Support.

Katie's clinical experience centers on adults across the lifespan — from college students to older adults — and she has a particular love for working with mothers and parents at every stage of the journey. She also enjoys working with couples and Veterans. While her caseload is primarily adult-focused, her combined training in counseling and school psychology has prepared her to work with children and adolescents as well, and she welcomes that opportunity for continued growth.

At the heart of Katie's work is an existential curiosity — she loves helping clients explore questions of meaning, purpose, and identity, and supporting them in building a life that reflects what matters most to them. Her primary approach is Person-Centered, with a strong emphasis on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and values-based work. She also holds Level 1 training in the Gottman Method for couples work, and when it's meaningful to a client, she enjoys integrating religious and spiritual beliefs and practices into therapy as a source of hope, resilience, and healing.

Outside the therapy room, she is usually exploring Northern Arizona on her motorcycle or bicycle (mountain and road, she loves both), camping with her family and their dog, or hunting for hidden treasures at local thrift stores. She's a mother of three and finds a lot of joy in cooking homemade meals.
